What Actually Happens When You Book the DeLorean Time Machine

A lot of people reach out not knowing quite what to expect. Here's exactly what booking the DeLorean looks like — from the first call to the last photo of the night.

The most common question I get after someone decides they want the car isn't about pricing or availability. It's: "So what does this actually look like?"

Fair question. Renting a replica movie prop isn't something most people have done before. So here's exactly what happens.

I Bring It. I Stage It. I Stay.

When you book the DeLorean, you're not just getting a car dropped in a parking lot with a key and a handshake. I personally deliver and stage the vehicle. I handle the setup, the positioning — everything that goes into making it look right on-site.

And I'm there. I coordinate with your event team, help manage the flow of guests around the car, assist with photo ops, and answer every single Back to the Future question that comes up. There are always questions. I'm ready for all of them.

Sitting in the Car vs. Exterior Photos

This one matters — and it depends on your event.

Private events: Guests can sit in the car. That means sliding into the driver's seat, gripping the steering wheel, taking in the full interior — every switch, every prop, every light. For private bookings, that's part of the experience.

Public-facing events: If a company or organization is booking the car for general public access, it's exterior photo ops only. The car is staged and secured, and guests can get up close and take photos — but not inside. This keeps things controlled and protects the build.

What Guests React To

The lights and sound effects get people every time. The car is screen-accurate, so when everything powers up, it doesn't just look like the DeLorean — it sounds like it. Guests who grew up with the films have a genuine reaction. It's not nostalgia-bait. It's the real thing.

The cast-autographed visors also stop people cold. The entire cast signed them. Every time I point that out, someone leans in to read the names and just goes quiet for a second.

And then there's this: Christopher Lloyd — Doc Brown himself — has sat in that driver's seat. The same seat your guests are climbing into. That detail lands differently than anything else I can tell someone about this car.

All-Day and Multi-Day Events

Some events need the DeLorean for eight hours. Some need it for two days. For larger expo or corporate bookings where the car needs to be secured and blocked off, stanchions and any preferred professional lighting are the client's call — they know their venue and their setup better than anyone. If stanchions are needed, having them available on-site is preferred so we can make sure the car is properly protected throughout the event.

Every event is its own thing. I'm happy to work through whatever the logistics require and make sure it goes according to plan — handled with professionalism and a little 80s flare.
